We’re excited to announce the release of our latest firmware version, which addresses the wired DMX issues reported by our users.
We sincerely appreciate your patience as we’ve worked through these challenges.
During our investigation, we uncovered several issues, some of which were particularly tricky to track down as they only occurred under specific conditions.
However, with the release of firmware version 5.14.84, we believe we have resolved all of them.
There will however be some situations where a very small number of you will need a hardware component to be changed. This will be a FOC change and will be something that you may wish to do yourselves.
To discover if you need this, please follow these steps:
– Upload the very latest firmware to all products and PowerBoxes
– Send a valid DMX signal to the PowerBox or data bridge
– Use the menu on the fixture to set the unit into Wired DMX mode or the AsteraApp to set the unit into XLR mode
– Make sure the unit is in the correct DMX address and mode and connect it to a PowerBox or data bridge
– The display on your unit will read out a Wired DMX percentage
If the display shows less than 97% you will require a new Wired DMX control board. Please click here to start this process.

New Features
In addition to the fixes, we’ve introduced V2 of our wired DMX protocol, offering increased immunity against interference.
We also recommend updating all your PowerBoxes and DataLinks to firmware version 2.00.
While there is full cross-compatibility between the old and new firmware, only lights running FW 5.14.84 or higher will benefit from the V2 protocol.

Please note: This firmware does not solve the wired DMX Hardware issue on Hyperion-BTB we have previously notified about. This is a separate issue.

Firmware V5.14.84
– Added: Support for PowerBox wired DMX protocol version 2 for increased interference immunity; avoids incorrect DMX frames. PowerBox version 2.00 is needed for the feature to work.
– Fixed: Sound to light in ART7 and ART7WIFI did not work properly.
– Fixed: Frame drops on wired DMX with HeliosBTB, TitanBTB, HyperionBTB, PB15 and Hydra while the DMX signal is perfect.
Firmware V5.14.78
– Fixed: BTB lights do not recognise wired DMX on DC connector, only after being re-plugged
– Fixed: Hyperion BTB cannot detect wired DMX sometimes, stops again after a few seconds (related to if it’s charging or not!)
– Fixed: Occasional flicker on BTB lights while running from wired DMX
– Fixed: Unstable CRMX after the RDM update eventually leading to CRMX NOT INSTALLED messages
